SEVEN STANDING OVATIONS FOR ERIK
COMMUTER EXPRESS
September 30, 2010

AT the two-night Power of One concert held at the Meralco Theatre, Erik Santos received a total of seven standing ovations, three on the first night and four on the second.

On Friday, September 24, the Prince of Pop’s duets with special guests Martin Nievera (Broadway Medley) and Regine Velasquez (Sometime, Somewhere/What Kind of Fool) each received unanimous enthusiastic cheers from the overwhelmed and jampacked audience. Aside from this, Erik’s finale rendition of I Believe I Can Fly and This Is The Moment-two songs identified with his Star In A Million victory seven years ago brought the house down.

The following night, his duet with Ms. Regine Velasquez once again received a sustained standing ovation, as well as Erik Santos’ solo renditions of the Broadway Medley, May Bukas Pa, and again, his finale number.

The concert’s other special guests Piolo Pascual, Rachel Ann Go, and Christian Bautista also cast a spell on the star-studded audience who flocked to witness Erik Santos’ best performance to date. Toni Gonzaga with her boyfriend, director Paul Soriano, Mark Bautista, Deo Endrinal, Crystalle Henares, Richard Poon, Maricar Reyes, Daisy Romualdez, Manny Valera, Angeli Valenciano, and Mr Pure Energy himself, Gary Valenciano all lent their support.

It is also impressive to note that some fans were watching from the side aisles because tickets were sold-out as early as two days before the show.

Power of One, September 25, 2010

September 26, 2010 By: rose Category: Uncategorized

I’m back, 2nd night naman, yung excitement namin di pa rin nabawasan. Another sold out night.

Almost same yung repertoire except for some surprises here and there; and of course new guests line up. The opening was as usual great but you will notice na mas bigay na bigay ang bawat performances ni erik maybe because final night na, unlike the first night, where he still have to reserve something para sa next show.

Isa si Christian Bautista sa guests, Power of Asiansation, he rendered his rendition of Beautiful Girl which made the girls from the audience swoon…swabe din talaga si Christian kumanta. The erik joined him for their duet..nakakatawa kasi harap harapan talaga nya ini-impersonate si Christian na okay lang naman sa kanya coz they are really good friends. Erik even joked na sya ang champion sa star in a million and 4th runner up lang si Christian pero he commended naman na super sikat sya sa Indonesia ngayon, pang international daw. They sang standard songs medley, like fly me to the moon and the likes, ang charming ng performance nila.

Instead of Michael Jackson medley, he paid tribute to his other ultimate idol, sabi pa nya, we all know that I am a certified Martinian, kung ano man daw ang tawag sa mga fan ni Martin. Kinuwento nya yung duet nila ng first night, he asked martin’s permission daw if he could do the Broadway Medley solo, and he did…awesome, the audience can’t help but gave him a standing ovation.

Then it’s ultimate heartrob’s turn to take the stage, of course the audience went gaga over him, Piolo Pascual yan eh. He sang the themesong of his current teleserye Noah. Nakakatouch din yung spiel nila, sinabi ni piolo na among all the champs na most of them kaibigan nya naman, si erik talaga ang pinakafavorite nyang singer. Ang kulit ni erik coz he keeps on telling the crowd na wag daw malilito kasi magkamukha talaga sila, and pag daw kaharap nya si Piolo akala nya nananalamin sya. Tapos nagduet sila ng Martin Hits medley. In fairness to Piolo, ok naman ang pagkakakanta nya. After nilang kumanta, sabi ni erik buti na lang mas magaling ako kumanta sa kanya, imagine if yung boses ko napunta pa sa kanya, wala na natira sa kin hahaha.

As usual well applauded ulit ang Regine-Erik duet, another Standing Ovation.

Eto na, ang finale nya I believe I can fly/This is the moment, grabe talaga si erik, kung makakanta parang wala ng bukas, syempre nga naman last na. Kung superb yung sa first night, di ko na alam how to describe this. Even the lady seating besides us, started clapping from the start til the end of the song. Another well deserved Standing Ovation…

Sobra talagang nakakapround maging fan ni Erik. Di kami nagkamali ng piniling suportahan…we love you Erik.

Pictures will be posted soon…

Power of One, September 24, 2010

September 26, 2010 By: rose Category: Uncategorized

Guys, just wanna share yung kwento sa loob ng forum

hi guys, sorry po sa late kwento… ;) eto super hang over pa din kami, 2 nights and yet bitin pa din.

Yes, totoo ang balita, sold out and jampacked both nights, 3 standing ovations on the first night as well as the second.

Power of One, September 24, 2010s

The show started with a really nice vtr, yung mga artist friends ni erik such as the likes of mega, zsa zsa etc. nagsalita sila sa video talking about power of dreams and erik. Super nice yung stage, goosebumps talaga kasi lumabas si erik sa nagsplit na huge lcd screen, together with the UP Singing Ambassadors, Corner of the Sky and When Doves Cry ang opening salvo nya, opening pa lang para ng pang finale na sa sobrang powerful.

Then he reminisced about his first time daw na masabihang hindi sya magaling at di nya makuha ang tamang pasok, tawa mga green minded na tao sa audience, tapos naalala daw nya nung nagstart pa lang sya, member pa sya ng boyband, kinuwento din nya ang first time experience nya mag act sa MMK. He sang I Wanna Hold Your Hand/How Deep is Your Love, (yup madlang people panay medley ang tinira ng lolo nyo, san ka pa?) lumapit sya sa audience, looked for his mom, tita lits, hay sabi nya naiiyak daw sya sa saya.

Sumunod na kumanta yung acoustic girls (Power of Youth), they were joined by erik after their number, they sang telephone, waking up in vegas then ang walang kamatayang don’t stop believing, yung mga girls except for hanna parang kinabahan, di sila kumakanta.

Erik Then he sang Rey Valera Medley, sunod nya yung sobrang moving na version nya ng Broken Vow, my gosh muntik kami baliwin ni erik dito, sobrang may kurot sa puso, erik owned the song, he made me realized how sad the song was about.

He called the “Power of the Ultimate Champion” Rachelle Ann Go, she sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow, superb version, andun lahat ng mga ASAP XV staff, may miss factor talaga.

Next number nya about stepping out of the box and exploring new possibilities. He sang Iduyan Mo medley with Classical/Operatic song. Tapos nag thank you sya sa mga sponsors pero nilagyan nya ng twist by incorporating his bentang bentang impersonation ng mga friends nya na singer. Next na yung Power of One Idol, sabi nya dahil hindi ako masyado marunong sumayaw gawin nating ballad ang mga songs ng King of Pop, as usual amazing performance.

Eto na, he called na his ultimate idol, walang iba kungdi si Concert King Martin Nievera, it was touching to think na he just came from the states, nag stop lang sa pilipinas para sa concert ni erik, then off to japan, 1am ang flight nya. He sang his Medley of hits, everytime napapanuod ko si martin magperform palagi ako speechless.

He pays tribute to all the women on the audience by singing medley of celine/whitney/mariah. For me si erik lang ang nakakakanta ng female songs pero gawing male version at mapanindigan. He sang All by myself/On my own/Butterfly. Hay I ran out of good words to describe it na, basta sana may video, judge it for yourself.

They sang Sometime Somewhere/What Kind of Fool I Am duet, amazing, naku no words can describe it kaya watch nyo na lang ang video. Standing Ovation as usual, naks sanay na kami sa SO for erik hehehe.

Nagpasalamat sya sa Power of One God, he sang Lupa/May Bukas Pa medley. =)))

Then encore na, ang pinakahihintay ng mga mommies, he sang I Believe I Can Fly/This Is The Moment together with UP Singing Ambassador. It was majestic…people can’t help but stand and clap continuously. We want more pa pero May Bukas pa naman… =))))

2nd night kwento later….

The power of Erik Santos

The power of Erik Santos
by Isah V. Red
September 22, 2010

Amid intrigues and mostly put-downs, especially from the tabloid press, Erik Santos remains steadfast in his goal to become the country’s prince of pop. And it seems he is actually weathering the anti-Erik barrage of criticisms.

Proof is he has stayed in the business close to a decade, and he hasn’t even peaked yet. Just a couple of steps to the apex of his career, Santos stops momentarily to take a look at how he has become the person that he has always dreamed to be.

Santos’ career has come a long way since Star in a Million. Platinum records, hit songs and multiple music awards are now tucked under his belt, and only in his past seven years in show business. All these accomplishments started with the power of a dream. And when the right time and right opportunity came to Erik the rest was history.

To emphasize that dreams can be powerful, Santos titled his coming show on Sept. 24 and 25 at the Meralco Theater The Power of One.

Santos returns to that time when he wasn’t the Prince of Pop that he is now. He will prove to his audience that it is his music and powerful voice that brought him to where he is today.

The show promises to showcase Erik’s vocal range and his heartfelt renditions of popular love songs.

Santos assembled personalities that had the great influence on him as a singer. Appearing as special guests for both nights will be no less than Regine Velasquez and the world renowned UP Singing Ambassadors. On Sept. 24, the country’s premier balladeer, Martin Nievera and singing champion Rachel Anne Go will join the roster while the ultimate Heartthrob, Piolo Pascual will perform on the 25th.

Erik took the time to pick the songs for the show, most of which will not only challenge him musically but will also tell the story of his life. It will be songs from someone who dared to dream and followed it.

Erik Santos’ fans get tickets at SM Tickets in all SM malls. For inquiries and reservations, you can call SM Tickets at 470-2222 and Ticketworld at 891-9999.

While his contemporaries (Mark Bautista, Christian Bautista, et al) have loosened up and thrown clothes and caution to the wind, Erik Santos insists that he’s not ready to pursue that “daring” direction yet, even if he’s marking his late 20s on 10-10-10.

“Is anybody stopping me from going sexy?” Erik asks. “No. Basta wala pa lang ako sa kondisyon.”

His advance birthday concert set for Sept. 24 and 25 at the Meralco Theater is titled The Power of One (with Regine Velasquez and the UP Singing Ambassadors as guests on both shows; and Martin Nievera and Rachelle Ann Go on the first night, and Piolo Pascual on the second night), so you wonder, where does his power emanate from?

“My throat,” says Erik, joking. He means his singing voice, although his fans are convinced that Erik spices that up with his own brand of sex appeal.

Will he show a little flesh in his show?

“Well, there are ‘surprises’,” Erik promises. “You will be surprised.”

Unlike Gary Valenciano who, observed Funfare readers, acted “dainty and demure” in a previous “sexy talk,” Erik is playful in a teasing way, not putting on a “saintly” posture at all.

What is sexy to you?

“It’s not just physical but overall. A woman may not be physically beautiful but if she knows how to carry herself, she can be sexy.”

What makes you feel sexy?

“I feel sexy when I am about to go to sleep. I wear only boxers shorts with nothing underneath, covered by a comforter.”

What’s on your mind in a moment like that?

“Hmmmmmm…nothing obscene; just a little pampaantok.”

Name three women who are sexy to you.

“Julia Roberts. Cristine Reyes. Pops Fernandez.”

Part of your body that you consider sexiest.

“My eyes daw, sabi nila. Nangungusap daw, sabi nila.”

Part of a woman’s body that you find sexiest.

“The back.”

Sexiest sound (musical instrument).

“Saxophone. Kapag naririnig ko, para bang nakikipag-sex ako. That’s why I love listening to Kenny G.”

During your intimate moments with somebody, do you play Kenny G’s CD as musical background?

“No, I don’t. Moaning lang ang maririnig mong sound. Hahahahaha!”

Sexiest song.

“Those by Kenny G pa rin.”

Sexiest book.

“Eleven Minutes by Paolo Coelho. It’s about a girl who aspires to be a star but ends up a prostitute.”

Sexiest movie.

“The Phenomenon (1996), starring John Travolta.”

Sexiest scene he has done.

“None so far.”

Sexiest TV show.

“EliminiDATE (US TV show).”

Sexiest clothes.

“Tight pants.”

Sexiest perfume.

“Joe Malone for special occasions. Moments for everyday use.”

Sexiest car.

“Jaguar.”

Sexiest magazine.

“FHM.”

You will have one soon daw, right?

Sexiest time of day.

“Early morning.”

Sexiest part of the house.

“My bedroom, of course! Maraming nangyayari d’un.”

Sexiest fantasy.

“Trapped on an island with somebody special.”

Sexy thing he has done to himself.

“I won’t tell. Hahahahaha!”

Sexiest thing he has done to a girl.

“Kiss her all over.”

Erik values true friendship

Erik Santos: Busy preparing for The Power One on Sept. 24 and 25 at Meralco Theater

One of the biggest hit songs
in the ’80s was, That’s What Friends Are For performed by real-life superstar friends Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Gladys Knight. The song
talks about friends being there for each other through the good times and the bad.

Erik Santos must be humming that song in his head lately. In his forthcoming concert, The Power of One, he once again proves that Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Rachelle Ann Go and Piolo Pascual are friends he can rely on as they take time off from their busy schedules (Regine in the middle of preparing for her wedding and Martin in between holding shows in Europe and US) to perform a song or two with him in the show happening on Sept. 24 and 25 at the Meralco Theater.

Even Rachelle Ann, whom Erik no longer works with on A.S.A.P. XV since she has left ABS-CBN for GMA 7 months back, remains a dear friend to the Prince of Pop. The two go to the same church (Victory Christian Fellowship) and after worship service, they, along with other church-mates, usually have dinner together. It is assumed that they hardly talk about their rival Sunday shows, or if they do, it’s always dispassionately.

These past weeks, the alleged competition between Erik and balladeer Christian Bautista was revived after the latter made strides in Indonesia’s entertainment scene and going sexy for a fashion show. The whispers grew louder after Erik appeared on Maalaala Mo Kaya, which many people saw as a move that’s in response to Christian’s foray into acting.

But the truth is, Erik counts Christian as one of his closest friends in the industry. They have reached that point when they can comment about each other without thinking ill of it.

Then again, as they say, it’s easy to be generous when the giver has been blessed much. For years now, Erik has been chalking up platinum albums after another and multiple industry awards that affirm that the Prince of Pop is still on top of his game.

It’s not as if Erik risks about these things — especially not lately. He is too busy preparing for The Power of One, which he says is a concept concert that tells the story of an aspiring singer’s journey to success. Seemingly autobiographical, Erik says this is the reason why the repertoire consists of numbers that will put his vocals to the test.

Erik is especially excited over the show since it is his first time to perform at Meralco Theater. He enthuses that the challenge in performing in a relatively intimate venue is that the performer can’t rely on special effects to carry the show. Indeed, it will be the singer and the song that will earn the applause.

And knowing Erik’s mettle, I wouldn’t be surprised if a standing ovation happens.

Erik Santos and Denise Laurel headline Kapamilya Karavan sa GenSan TunaFest

September 18, 2010 By: rose Category: Uncategorized

Posted by bariles On September – 16 – 2010

For the first time in a long while, ABS-CBN will be bringing in Kapamilya artists  for the start of the Tuna Festival Week this year.  The last time that the behemoth media giant brought in their big stars for a festival was when Kokey and Pokwang were here ages ago.

After that, it was downhill from there due to what their Talent Center perceived as GenSan being a “security risk” area for their stars.

But now with a new Station Manager for ABS-CBN Socsksargen and a more progressive group of people handling their Regional Network Group, GenSan is once again registering in their Events Radar, albeit slowly but surely.

That is why, to open the Tuna Festival Week, on Saturday, September 18, 2010, ABS-CBN Socsksargen brings to GenSan their “KAPAMILYA KARAVAN sa GenSan TunaFest” with Primetime Bida star Denise Laurel and (hold your breath), Prince of Pop Erick Santos!

Erik Santos got his start as a winner of the Star In A Million Singing Competition of ABS-CBN years back and has managed to to transform himself into one of the country’s biggest singers and recording artists.  He is currently seen in the weekly variety show, ASAP XV and was in the weekly weeper, Maalala Mo Kaya in one episode.

Denise Laurel, a grand daughter of former Vice President Doy Laurel is a current Kapamilya favorite, having starred in a good number of afternoon teleseryes.  She has since moved up to become a Primetime Bida star and acts alongside Rafael Rosell, Christine Reyes and Zanjoe Marudo in the telenovela, “Kristine”.

The Kapamily Karavan Sa GenSan Tunafest spectacle happens at the KCC Mall of GenSan Convention and Events Center starting at 3pm this Saturday, Sept 18.  It will be 3 or so hours of fun, games, exciting prizes, musical and dance numbers from selected local talents and of course, performances from the two Kapamilya Stars.

The sexy and sultry Denise Laurel and dashing Star in a Million Winner Erik Santos at the Tuna Festival??!!!  Pinch me or I must be dreaming!

Autobiographical concert for Erik

September 18, 2010 By: rose Category: Uncategorized

Friday, 17 September 2010 15:23
erik_santos
ERIK Santos has gone a long way since winning “Star In A Million.” The past seven years has been most rewarding professionally and financially.

On Sept. 24 and 25, Erik gets to fulfill a long time dream of performing at the Meralco Theater.

The show is called “The Power of One.”

“I was targeting October 10 as it is a lucky day according to Chinese beliefs. It also happens to be my birthday. My age?  Still in the calendar. The trouble is every venue is fully booked. Perfect ang Meralco dahil it fits the concept of the show. I want to establish intimacy with the audience through my songs.”

Will he reinvent himself and do an Usher act where he will sing under the rain and expose his upper body?

“Soon perhaps.  I really don’t mind showing some skin kaya lang,   I have to be sure every part  of my body is okay and that would mean workouts and regular visit to the gym. Even singers need to reinvent themselves dahil competition is very strong  in this business.”

“The Power of One” is almost autobiographical. It will trace the life story of someone who believes in the power of a dream. The main focus however is more on the powerful vocal range of Erik.

Erik’s special guests include Regine Velasquez (for both nights), Martin Nievera and Rachel Ann Go. Piolo Pascual will perform on the 25th.

Well, that’s what we call the power of friendship

“The Power of One” is brought by Core Events Production and VDRRN in cooperation with La Carmela de Boracay and Good Earth Restaurant.

Also for the first time, GB Sampedro (who directed the indie film, “Astig” for which he won an award and directs the noisiest talk show in town, “Paparrazi” for TV5) gets the opportunity to handle Erik.

How does he rate Erik?  “I have been a huge fan of Erik. Never akong kinabahan sa kanya kapag bumibirit na siya. Never akong nag-worry na baka siya pumiyok. From day one of rehearsal, he showed professionalism. He is so positive in everything. He gives his all as if it is his last performance. Rehearsal pa lang ang feeling ko ay parang opening night na kami. To borrow a tagline, he is a Total Entertainer. Hindi siya marunong mapagod. For Erik, performing is a passion.”

He rules out the element of sex in Erik’s concert.

“Visually, there is none. However, there are love songs that conveys intimacy and sex which Erik captured so well,” the 34-year-old director states.

Martin Nievera Goes the Extra Mile for Erik Santos

September 17, 2010 By: rose Category: Uncategorized

By JOJO P. PANALIGAN
September 16, 2010, 1:17pm

MANILA, Philippines – Martin Nievera has rearranged his travel plans to accommodate his guest performance in Erik Santos’ forthcoming concert, “The Power of One.”

“Martin was set to fly straight from Europe to the US between shows but he rebooked his flights to return to Manila in time for my concert,” Erik revealed in a recent interview. “Didiretso siyang airport for his flight to Europe pagkatapos na pagkatapos niyang kumanta sa concert.”

The Philippine Concert King signed up for “The Power of One” pro bono.

“Sobra po akong grateful kay Martin kasi everytime kinukuha ko siya sa conert, di siya nagpapabayad. We’re friends,” Erik said, smiling.

Other guests in the Prince of Pop’s two-night concert are Regine Velasquez and UP Singing Ambassadors. Rachel Anne Go (with Martin, Sept. 24) and Piolo Pascual (Sept. 25) are also featured.

The last two are not only friends with Erik but they are church-mates in Victory Christian Fellowship (VCF). Erik and Rachelle, despite her transfer to GMA-7, even have dinner together with other friends after worship service.

“Yung mga members ng grupo namin sa church, di kami naglalaban-laban,” he quipped.

The same goes for Christian Bautista who has been touted as Erik’s rival for years now. Recall that Erik beat Christian in “Star in a Million,” where both were discovered. Christian has since moved on to conquer Indonesia and has gone the sexy route lately if only for several projects.

“Dati very stiff si Christian, andaming limitations. Lagi din siyang balot na balot sa pananamit pero ngayon, go-go-go na siya. It has worked to his advantage. Napansin naman siya,” Erik noted.

Will he follow suit one of these days?

“Wait n’yo lang yan!” he exclaimed, laughing. “Malay n’yo makita niyo na lang ako next year sa…”

Turning serious, Erik added: “Di naman preparing para sa ganun kasi nag-gym naman talaga ako regularly. Pero hindi ako nag-gym dahil may pictorial na sexy or lalabas ako sa isang show na kailangan nakahubad, ha. It’s more for health reasons and it follows na lang na gumaganda din ang katawan.”

Erik needs the extra energy for “The Power of One.” The show’s repertoire, he said, will put his vocals to the test.

“Unang kanta pa lang, akala mo pang-finale na. At saka panay medley kami dito. I’ve long wanted to do a show like this. May kwento yung concert; that of a guy dreaming of becoming a singer one day at yung journey niya para marating ‘yon,” he said.

“The Power of One” is produced by Core Events Production and VTRANN in cooperation with La Carmela de Boracay and Good Earth restaurant. For inquiries and reservations, call SM Tickets and Ticketworld.
